Rialto is a city in San Bernardino County, in the Riverside-San Bernardino metro area. Elevation is 1,257 feet. Land area: 21.9 square miles. Population density: 4513 people per square mile.
History
It is not known how Rialto got its name though two beliefs are always disputed. One story suggests that "Rialto" is a contraction of rio (river) and alto (high). Another belief is that the area was named after the Rialto Bridge located in Venice, Italy as the river that once crossed the city was reminiscent of the one in Italy.

The estimated population, in 2003, was 98,091. With a total population of 93,284 in 2005. Population in July 2008: 98,700. Population change since 2000: +7.4%

Rialto is home to four major regional distribution centers: Staples, Inc., which serves stores across the entire West Coast of the United States, Toys "R" Us, FedEx and Target
